Resveratrol and Red Wine

Many studies have noted the benefits of regular red wine consumption. This is often attributed to the presence of resveratrol in red wine. Here a few of the relevant studies:

  • Researchers from  Stony Brook University at the 71st Annual Scientific Meeting of the American College of Gastroenterology in Las Vegas in 2006 explained that drink three glasses of red wine would reduce the risk of colorectal cancer by as much as seventy percent. Those researchers concluded this was due to the presence of resveratrol in red wine.
  • Dr. Richard Hoffman, from the University of Hertfordshire, in 2007 discovered that not all red wines have the same amount of resveratrol. He is quoted as saying:  “As a result, they assume that all red wines are the same, but this is certainly not the case as the levels of resveratrol vary.”
  • Doctors the world over have generated interest in resveratrol because they believe in the benefits. Those doctors include, Dr Oz, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Dr. David Servan-Schreiber, Dr. Robert M. Goldman, Dr. David Sinclair and Dr. Joseph Maroon.
